The Client- St Clements Golf Club in Ipswich
Established in 1969, St Clements Golf Club originally catered to NHS patients and staff. Situated on the former Ipswich Borough Mental Health Hospital site, the club features Italianate-style buildings designed by William Ribbans. Some of these historic structures have been converted into upscale apartments at Belgrove Place, while the rest of the area is occupied by contemporary housing.
Despite numerous efforts to repurpose the golf course land, St Clements has not only endured but prospered. Presently, the club has almost 300 members and is maintained by two devoted greenkeepers and several volunteers.

Aeration of the Putting Greens is Required to Relive Soil Compaction
When contacting us, three water-logged greens needed to be fixed so that the golf club members could play on the typically premium putting surfaces.
The problem of soil compaction that causes water-logged greens and fairways on golf courses is common in high-traffic areas with heavy machinery and foot traffic. However, our ground aeration machine can quickly remedy this issue through ground aeration, which is precisely why we were called out.

Aeration Jet is the Solution to Golf Course Soil Compaction
For this job, we initially used the Aeration Jet machine to aerate the waterlogged surfaces of the three unplayable greens. This quickly relieved the water logging on the affected greens. Next, we de-compacted the rest of the greens as a preventative measure.
Aeration of golf courses can significantly improve the condition of fairways and greens by decreasing soil compaction and water accumulation.
There are over 2,500 golf courses in the UK, with approximately 150 located in East Anglia, where our company has the most current presence.
Golf courses offer sports and community access to many people nationwide. Our aeration machine ensures that the greens and fairways remain open by addressing water accumulation and soil compaction.
The video below depicts the Aeration Jet in Action on a golf course’s putting green. Observe how the surface rises due to the aeration bursts, which alleviate soil compaction, facilitate drainage, and increase oxygen flow into the root system.
